There are about 500 Chinese ANSO scholarships awarded each year which include 200 master’s scholarships and 300 Ph.D. scholarships.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, students must be non-Chinese citizens and be younger than 30 for masters and 40 years of age for a Ph.D. at the time of application.

You also need to provide language proficiency certificates for Chinese and/or English depending on the requirement of your institution.

The application process for ANSO scholarships starts with an acceptance letter from a professor at one of the ANSO-affiliated institutions. If you’re interested, you can apply either through UCAS or USTC.

2# Commonwealth UK Scholarships

The Commonwealth scholarships are offered to citizens of the commonwealth countries to study in the United Kingdom at Ph.D. and master’s levels. The maximum duration of a master’s scholarship is a year-long and that of a Ph.D. scholarship is three years long.

These scholarships are offered in the following fields: access, inclusion, and opportunity, strengthening resilience and response to crisis, science, and technology for development, strengthening health systems and capacity, promoting global prosperity, and lastly, strengthening global peace, security and governance.

These are fully funded scholarships that will not only cover your tuition fees but also offer a thesis grant. Along with this, you are given a monthly stipend which can range from about 1100 pounds to about 1300 pounds. The scholarship also covers your initial airfare and other study-related costs.

3# Brunei Darussalam Scholarships

These Brunei scholarships provide a great opportunity for those who want to study in Brunei for either bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. These scholarships are available for locals as well as foreigners.

The scholarships in Brunei offer a complete tuition fees waiver, accommodation on campus, health insurance, a monthly meal (BND $150) and living (BND $500) allowance, a yearly book allowance of BND $600 along with economy class tickets for your travels.

4# Azerbaijan Government Scholarships

The Azerbaijan Government Scholarships are offered to students from NAM and OIC countries at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. Additionally, this scholarship is also offered for medical residency programs and various preparatory courses.

The scholarship is only offered at certain universities that are associated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Azerbaijan. 5# Gates Cambridge Scholarships (UK)

This is because the scholarship offers a complete package of funding for the research, a living allowance for you and your family, and coverage of visa and travel costs.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you do need to have a supervisor sign off on your research at the time of your application. Along with this, you are required to give a personal statement and a research proposal with your application form that provides details of how you plan to carry out your research and the potential impact it will have on your field.

Only the most academically gifted candidates will be selected in a very rigorous selection process. There are 80 scholarships offered for MLitt, MSc, Ph.D., or any other year-long course offered at the university each year.

8# University of Waterloo International Funding

The University of Waterloo offers around 20 scholarships to undergraduate students for $10,000. This scholarship is only offered to the most high-achieving candidates who are starting their undergraduate studies at Waterloo University.

10# Middle East Technical University Scholarships

METU offers scholarship awards to study at the bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. levels at the university. To apply for this scholarship, you first need to apply for a position at the university. Admission to the university automatically nominates you for this scholarship.

This scholarship covers the tuition fees and some of the scholarship programs include meal allowance and accommodation as well.

The documents that are required for your application include academic transcripts, a letter of intent, reference letters, proof of financial support, and a TOEFL certificate if you’re not giving IELTS. For TOEFL CBT, you need a minimum score of 270, TOEFL IBT, the minimum score needed is 106 and for TOEFL PBT the minimum score needed is 623.

11# Kuwait Government Scholarships

The government of Kuwait offers fully funded scholarships to undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. students in Kuwaiti universities. IELTS is not a mandatory requirement to apply for any Kuwaiti Scholarship. The documents required for the application of this scholarship include photos, medical examination forms, a copy of your ID card, and academic transcripts.

12# York University International Student Scholarship Program

York University is one of Canada’s largest universities and offers a great scholarship opportunity for undergraduate students.

There are two different York University scholarships which are the Global Leader of Tomorrow Award (which offers $80,000 for 4 years) and the International Entrance scholarship. The International Entrance scholarship program offers $35,000 each year for the duration of an undergraduate program.

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must not only have an excellent academic record but also provide proof of your proficiency in English. The acceptable English language tests at York Universities are PTE, TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, Cambridge English, and English language proficiency certificate.

To apply for these NY scholarships, you need to fill out the online admission application. Along with this, you’re required to provide a motivation letter, reference letters, write a scholarship essay describing your financial needs, a financial declaration form, a personal statement, a nomination letter from your school, and lastly, your academic transcripts along with your certificates and awards from school.

13# Shanghai Government Scholarships

Shanghai government scholarships are offered for Ph.D., bachelor’s, and master’s levels. There are different types of scholarship packages offered. Type A scholarships offer a complete package to their students and type B scholarships offer many of the same benefits as type A, with the exception of living expenses.

Undergraduate students are offered CNY 2500, master’s students are offered CNY 3000, and Ph.D. students are offered CNY 3500. The students are exempted from paying tuition fees, along with which they’re offered medical insurance, accommodation on campus, and monthly living expenses.

The Shanghai scholarships are only available for international students to study in Chinese universities in Shanghai. To be eligible to apply for these scholarships, the applicant must be in decent physical and mental health, be under the age limit for each scholarship and pass the Chinese language test.

If the applicant is not well-versed in Chinese, they can study Chinese for a year alongside their university courses, after which they will be required to give the HSK level 3 test.

14# Qatar University Scholarships

Qatar university offers a variety of scholarship programs for undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. programs.

Scholarship programs funded by external sources offer the students a fully-funded scholarship which includes tuition fees coverage, accommodation at the university, annual round trip airfare ticket, and textbook fees.

On the other hand, the competitive scholarship programs and those funded through internal resources only exempt the student from tuition fees and book fees. The application process for each Qatari scholarship varies from one another, but none of them require IELTS. Although, you are required to submit an English proficiency certificate along with your scholarship application.

15# Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarships

There are about 40 FES Scholarships awarded each year to bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. students. The FES scholarships are awarded based on the candidate’s academic performance as well as their role in the community.

The benefits of the scholarships include monthly stipends (EUR 750 for a bachelor’s program and EUR 850 for a Master’s program) along with health insurance and family allowances.
